U8 Girls needed

The Rockaway Renegades are looking for a few girls to join their team for fall 2008 / spring 2009. If your daughter would like to play, please contact head coach Teri Rosenski at (201) 320-2580

U14 Girls needed

The Rockaway Tornadoes are looking for two players to join their team.  If you are interested, please contact head coach Frank Morales at 973-361-7830 for a tryout.

CPR / AED course
for coaches & team managers

The Rockaway Township Parks and Recreation Dept. in cooperation with the Township Health Dept. will be offering a series of Red Cross CPR / AED Training Sessions.

 

While this program is not yet mandatory, all coaches and managers are encouraged to obtain this certification.

 

Sessions will be offered at the Township Municipal Building on an on-going basis and be limited to 8 people per session.  The program is free to Rockaway Township Coaches and includes all course materials and certification card upon completion.

RTSA Updated Policy on Smoking at Fields
 (effective June 6, 2008)

The Rockaway Township code of conduct form conduct form states "No coach, parent, player, official or attendee shall engage in any behavior which could endanger the health, safety or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee."   In light of this statement, effective immediately, the Rockaway Township Soccer Association is banning smoking within 100 feet of all of our playing fields during all practices and games.  Based on the code of conduct and in order to protect the well-being of all participants and spectators, we expect all those representing the Rockaway Township Soccer Association as players, coaches, and spectators to abide by this rule whether an event takes place in Rockaway Township or in another town.

    Among the Surgeon General's conclusions:

  • Even brief exposure to secondhand smoke can result in upper airway changes in healthy persons and can lead to more frequent and more asthma attacks in children who already have asthma.
  • Breathing secondhand smoke for even a short time can have immediate adverse effects on the cardiovascular system and interferes with the normal functioning of the heart, blood, and vascular systems

Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic 
 (free to our coaches - required to coach ANY SPORT at any level)

If you need to take the Rutgers SAFETY course, please call Corrine at
the Rockaway Township Rec Dept - 973.983.2840. 

The next clinic is scheduled for Friday, January 18, 2008 @ 6:45 pm until 10:00 pm in the Municipal Building

This course is REQUIRED for all those who wish to coach any sport in Rockaway Township.

Next Monthly Meeting: August 27, 2008
 

Our monthly meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at the Rockaway Township Municipal building located on Mount Hope Road.  Meetings begin at 8:00 PM.  RTSA Boosters meets from 7:30 PM and is always looking for new members - please consider attending a meeting!
